Dino 50 Years

serious
Dino Signori, founder of SIDI, has combined a passion for cycling with 50 years of experience manufacturing innovative sporting footwear. In 1960 SIDI began as a craftsman’s workshop cobbling mountaineering boots. In the 1970’s SIDI began specializing in cycling shoes and motorcycle boots. “Mr. Dino” has been joined for many years by his daughter Rosella and his son Danielle. Together with a small, dedicated staff they have created a business that is the market leader in cycling and motorcycle shoes. After half a decade, SIDI’s unique balance of tradition and innovation, style and comfort make SIDI sporting footwear exceptional in the industry.

THE SIDI FACTORY
Architecturally designed to represent the smooth lines and flowing movement of the surrounding Asolo hills, SIDI’s new factory honors the area where the company began and became famous. Modern and environmentally friendly, the factory hosts the most technologically advanced machinery available in the footwear business in one site for research, design/planning, production and marketing of SIDI products.

DESIGN, COMFORT & INNOVATIOn
The demanding nature of the sport of cycling and the fast evolution of bicycle technology mean SIDI’s technical staff are constantly focused on research and development using ground-breaking materials. The SIDI design team works closely with the greatest champions in cycling and motorcycling, incorporating their feedback into the creation of the most cutting edge sports footwear in the business.

SIDI TIMELINE OF INNOVATION
Almost without exception, every technological innovation that makes up a modern cycling
shoe was initially pioneered by Sidi.

1960
First SIDI workshop in Maser (Treviso)

1973
TITANIUM is the first cycling shoe designed and produced by DINO SIGNORI. The Titanium completely revolutionizes cleat attachment on cycling shoes with the use of adjustable screws.
Riders can now find the correct position on the pedals, and nailing the cleat to the shoe becomes obsolete.

1979
CYCLE SPORT is the first cycling shoe ever produced with a nylon sole. The nylon sole has the tremendous advantage of maintaining the same stiffness at different temperatures.

1983
REVOLUTION is the first modern cycling shoe. The Revolution introduced the use of Velcro® instead of a lace closure system. Combined with the modern look of a shoe with a nylon sole, SIDI revolutionized the norms for cycling shoes.

1985
In 1985 SIDI produced the first ever MTB and CYCLE CROSS shoe with a lugged rubber sole.

1989
GENIUS: by 1989 Clipless Pedals have evolved to become the norm, and cycling shoe closure systems need to be robust enough to completely take the place of toe clips in securing the foot within the shoe and allowing for easy adjustment during pedaling. SIDI studies alternatives to
Velcro® that would better support an athlete’s foot during powerful upward and downward pedal strokes. The result is the first micrometrical buckle in the cycling industry, called MICRO LOCK. A key feature of the Micro Lock buckle is that it is adjustable while racing.

1990
DOMINATOR and CHALLENGE: Making a statement for Italian fashion, SIDI develops the Dominator and Challenge, the first colored shoes with a bi-colored sole on the market.

1993
TECNO and MTB TECNO: Sidi pioneers the first mono-filament line buckle. In order to achieve maximum power and efficiency while pedaling the TECNO and MTB TECNO combine the popular MICRO LOCK SYSTEM with a new closure system for the front of the shoe: the MICRO LOCK EVOLUTION buckle.

1997
SHADOW and MTB GHOST: SIDI continues their closure system innovation in 1997 with the development of the Spider Buckle. The Spider Buckle allows for even more micrometric click-by-click strap adjustment while cycling.

1999
MTB ACTION SRS: The SRS or Sole Replacement System allows the cyclist to replace the worn tread on their mountain bike shoes.

2002
The ERGO 1 CARBON introduces the use of High Security Velcro®. High Security Velcro® is a Velcro® strap with integrated locking polymer teeth that engage onto each other when the strap is closed. This feature makes the closure more secure and the strap becomes unmovable.

2006
The ERGO 2 CARBON introduces new fit technology: the Heel Cup System. The Heel Cup System reinforces the top of the heel cup and improves fit by closing the back of the shoe more securely around the top of the rider’s heel, preventing heel slip.

2007
MTB DRAGON 2 CARBON SRS: SIDI combines the patented Sole Replacement System (SRS), with a carbon insert reaching from the heel to the toe. The carbon insert and the replaceable Dragon SRS tread are bolted to a narrow, durable nylon frame. The technical Heel Cup System has been upgraded and has become the Adjustable Heel Retention Device. It now adjusts with the turn of a screw.

2010
ERGO 2 CARBON LITE: SIDI introduces the use of a proprietary aerospace material, Aeronet Light, in the construction of their sole. The Ergo 2, Genius 6.6 and T2.6 drop 60 grams a pair without sacrificing strength, durability or stiffness.
